Your comfort and convenience are our top priorities during your stay. We leave you with clear instructions and tips to help you make the most of everything the home, town and wider area has to offer, and we're always available to answer any questions you may have. Luxurious bedding, linen and towels feature in all the rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped to make self-catering easy. There is a washer/dryer and drying racks. Cleaning products are provided.

The Perfect Getaway

Get ready for your vacation

This impressive town house is as central as you can get and just one minutes walk from the local shop. It stands opposite the birth place of the famous French impressionist Jules Bastien-Lepage. Follow the artists' trail and observe the very locations where Bastien-Lepage created his work. See his statue - a memorial created by his friend, Auguste Rodin.

A short walk, just 4 minutes, will take you to the extensive lakes which offer great days out for fishing and birdwatching with viewing platforms and hides. There are sheltered benches and tables and barbecue grills provided.

Having been on the front line during the 1914 -18 conflict, there are many battlefields, destroyed villages and military monuments and cemeteries nearby. Impressive battlements and museums can be visited in surrounding towns.

Explore the historic city of Verdun from the banks of the Meuse river. Indulge in it's culinary delights or sit and watch the world go by from one of the many riverside cafes along the trendy 'London Quay'.

In case you were wondering

Are there any cleaning fees or additional charges?

There are no hidden fees. Tourist tax is included. If fishing is planned as part of the vacation, a licence needs to be obtained prior to your stay.

Is this home safe for babies and children?

We do not permit children under the age of 12 due to low level opening windows on the first and second floors.

Do you provide a welcome pack?

Yes we do, fresh milk, eggs, ham, cheese, butter and bread.  We also provide a case of beer and a bottle of wine in the Tiki bar fridge.  

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is available via your booking platform.

How long does it take to get there by car?

The town is almost exactly a 4 hour drive from Calais.  To find out how long it will take from other destinations use google maps and put in area code 55150. Luxembourg airport is 1hr 20 mins drive. Paris Charles de Gaulle airport is under 3 hours. 

Are pets allowed?

We do not allow pets.

Is there parking available?

We have a reserved parking space outside the house but there is additional free parking in the immediate vicinity.

Are bedding and towels included?

Yes, however an additional charge of 20 Euros per room will be made for a mid week change if required.

Do you allow all male/female groups?

Yes, we allow all male or female groups.  We encourage guests to have a good time however we have a noise curfew of 11pm. A 300 euro damage waiver will be payable in advance of your stay and returned within 7 days of your departure, following inspection.

Where is the nearest shop?

All essential items can be found in the Carrefour Express, less than a minutes walk from your front door.  They have a butchers counter, plenty of fresh, chilled and frozen produce and a selection of wines and beer. There is a licensed restaurant 2 minutes walk away. Should you need it, there is a doctor's surgery and a separate pharmacy also!

Damvillers Artists trail of Jules Bastien-Lepage

A French painter closely associated with the beginning of naturalism, an artistic style that grew out of the Realist movement and paved the way for the development of impressionism.  Visit the actual places that Jules sat to create his masterpieces, maybe create your own at the same time!

Damvillers (Ballast pits) Fishing lakes

Several fishing lakes developed, maintained and managed by the commune of Damvillers offering specialist fishing with different lakes for carp, course, tench and predator fish. Sheltered BBQ and facilities are provided. Also great for a day out in the sun, take a picnic and a bottle of wine or two!

Germany, Belgium & Luxembourg

At only 20 minutes drive to Belgium, 45 minutes to Luxembourg and 1 hour 20 minutes to Germany, days out to experience the diverse cultures within the region are easily accessible.

Douamont Ossuaire

The Battle of Verdun : 21 February –18 December 1916. 300 days and 300 nights of relentless battles. Incessant surges of artillery and shells. A frightful death toll, both on the French and the German side. 300 000 men lost their lives amongst which many disappeared or will never be identified.

The Citadel, Montmedy

An impregnable fortified town was established on the Gaume plain, Montmédy. Within its walls, a small city will welcome you, brimming with the boutiques of artists and craftsmen.

Butte-Vauquois

Live a unique experience of a battlefield where the mine warfare was conducted beyond imagination. Feel free to visit all by yourself only the surface battlefield, or register for a guided tour of the amazing underground network.

Fort Douaumont

Fort Douaumont is the largest structure in the stronghold of Verdun . Occupied by the Germans for most of the battle, it was the subject of incessant bombardments. The visit to this “giant” constitutes an authentic immersion in the places where thousands of soldiers lived and fought

American War Cemetery, Romagne

Within the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial in France, which covers 130.5 acres, rest the largest number of our military dead in Europe, a total of 14,246. Most of those buried here lost their lives during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive of World War.

Romagna 14 - 18

This will be one of the most impressive museums you will ever visit, voted one of the 50 best in Europe. A place where you can pick up and handle the artifacts and get a real feel of the events from the Great War and those that witnessed it first hand.

 La Fete de Vieux Metiers  (Festival of Old Trades)

​Across 17 hectares of plains and forest, more than 400 volunteers are reviving 19th century trades in keeping with Lorraine traditions: lace makers, blacksmiths, tile makers, bakers, milliners, washerwomen, etc.
